Ingredients

  • For the Doughnuts:

    • 2 cups flour

    • ½ cup sugar

    • 2 teaspoons baking powder

    • ½ teaspoon salt

    • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg

    • 4 tablespoons butter, melted

    • 2 eggs

    • ¾ cup buttermilk

    • 1 tablespoon vanilla

    • 2 tablespoons strawberry jam

    • 1 cup fresh strawberries, diced small

  • For the Glaze:

    • ½ cup fresh strawberries, diced small

    • 1 tablespoon heavy whipping cream

    • 1 tablespoon strawberry jam

    • 2 ½ cups powdered sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease the doughnut pans with non-stick cooking spray (2 Wilton doughnut pans work well, holding 6 doughnuts each).

  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg. Stir until well combined.

  3. In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, eggs, buttermilk, vanilla, and strawberry jam.

  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Gently fold in the diced strawberries.

  5. Spoon the batter into the doughnut pans, filling them about ¾ full.

  6. Bake for 7-9 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

  7. Cool the doughnuts on a wire rack.
